Rev. Emily Clark– Senior Pastor
Home Roots: Grew up in Kalamazoo but has lived in Anderson, IN, Germantown, OH, and Wounded Knee, South Dakota.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Bible & Religion and History from Anderson University and a Master of Divinity from Anderson University School of Theology
Joined the Staff: 2019. Prior to coming to Faith United, Pastor Emily was a missionary at the Wounded Knee Church of God in South Dakota on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
Interesting Facts: Pastor Emily loves to travel. She has been all over the United States and the world. It’s her dream to visit every continent and needs to visit South America and Antartica to fulfill that dream. Emily also loves to knit, watch Antiques Roadshow, and hang out with her two cats Jack and Gus.
Favorite Scriptures: Philippians 2:15, “So that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generations in which you shine like stars in the universe.” Galatians 5:6, 13,14, “The only thing that counts is faith expressing it self through love. You my brothers [and sisters], were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge in the sinful nature; rather serve one another in love. The entire law is summed up in a single command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
Vision: To equip the local church to serve its community by being a light in dark places and to help people discover the redeeming love of God.
Judy Kerwin – Parish Nurse & Kids Hope USA Director
Home Roots: Grand Rapids – long-standing member of Faith United
Education: Associate Degrees in Liberal Arts and Professional Nursing from Grand Rapids Community College. Completed the Calvin College Parish Nursing Program in 2004.
Joined the Staff: 2004. Since that time Judy has helped to develop and maintain Faith United’s Parish Nursing program.
Employment: Registered Nurse Account Manager for a medical technology company
Family: Married to Terry Kerwin with four grown daughters and, so far, five grandchildren.
Interesting Facts: Judy enjoys music and literature. She has traveled throughout the US, Ireland, and England. She also loves spending time with her wonderful family.
Favorite Scripture: Romans 8:38-39 (NLT) “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow - not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below - indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Vision: The goal of a Parish Nurse is to serve as a health minister who provides Christian support to members of the church family across the span while promoting health, healing, and an understanding of the relationship between lifestyle, attitudes, faith, and well-being.
Rhonda Plants – Administrative Assistant
Home Roots: Belmont, Michigan
Education: Graduated from Rockford High School and attended Anderson University
Joined the Staff: August 2006
Family: Married to Daniel Plants; they have two children: Emily and Tyler.
Interesting Facts: Rhonda enjoys camping, road trips, games, puzzles, antiquing, and spending time with family and friends.
Favorite Scripture: Philippians 4:13 – “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”
Vision: To be a good listener, to be kind and to treat others the way I like to be treated.
Karen Stevens – Church Custodian
Home Roots: Grand Rapids, Michigan
Education: BA in English with a Minor in Reading Diagnostics; Elementary Education; Michigan Certified Cosmetology
Joined the Staff: 2009 as Church Custodian; 2011 as Kids Hope USA Director
Family: Three sons: Andy, Rob, and Nick.
Interesting Facts: Karen loves classics – movies, cars, and music.
Favorite Scriptures: Psalm 19:1 (NIV) “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands,” and Philippians 4:13 (NIV) “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”
Vision: To be kind, accepting, helpful, and orderly in a chaotic world.
