In March 2007, Matthew Stone joined us as our Youth Pastor. Pastor Matt leads a very active youth program and is assisted by several other adults in this ministry. OUR CONGREGATION:
Faith United is a church committed to God the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. We emphasize a personal relationship with Christ and the importance of holiness. Our ministry involvement is local, national and international.

Our guests and visitors consistently comment on how warmly they are received when they visit our church. Our congregation is made up of caring people who work at helping everyone feel right at home!

ABOUT THE CHURCH OF GOD:
Faith United is voluntarily affiliated with the Church of God with general offices in Anderson, Indiana. The Church of God is a movement that emphasizes the unity and holiness of all who have experienced the saving power of Jesus Christ.

A distinct characteristic of this church is its approach to membership. The Church of God believes that when a person accepts Jesus Christ as Savior, God places that person in the Church. Salvation alone is criteria enough for membership in any congregation of the Church of God. Membership is maintained by participating in the worship services, fellowship and ministries of the congregation.

A LITTLE BACKGROUND:
Faith United Church of God began in March of 1984. Fifty men, women, and children shared a vision for a new congregation of the Church of God in northwest Grand Rapids. Through prayer and study, this decision was affirmed as the church began what was to be 9 years of worshipping at schools in the Kenowa Hills School District.

A Land Search Committee found a parcel of land just northeast of Interstate 96 on Walker Road in 1986. Once the land was secured, dreams to place a church building on the property were put into a form by our Building Committee. The first service in our new church was on May 9, 1993. This was a great day of rejoicing!

Our congregation strives to minister to people of all ages. Opportunities for everyone include Sunday School, Wednesday Night Fellowship, small groups, and special events throughout the year. Additionally, our children's ministry offers regular Children’s Church and annual Vacation Bible School. Our youth attend conventions, camps, and participate in numerous fun activities. They are thriving under a variety of opportunities for spiritual growth, service and relationship building.

Over the years, our youth and adults have participated in several community outreach events. Mission experiences have included the sponsorship of a Romanian family of five, a Vietnamese family of six, numerous food drives, Living Link relationships with three missionary families, and partnering with Alpine Elementary School through KIDS HOPE USA.

Revs. Paul and Diana Stover were our congregation’s first Pastors. Rev. Charles Hawkins and his wife Ann, served as interim pastors until our current Senior Pastor, Rev. Steve McDaniel, was called to lead the congregation in February of 1995. In June of 1999, Jonathan Book came to serve as our Youth Pastor. Since March of 2007, Matt Stone has been our Youth Pastor.
